We knew it was a gamble, and we promised ourselves we wouldn’t be disappointed, but of course, we secretly held out hope that the dire news delivered by faux jovial meteorologists in the DFW area that cloudy skies would steal the show, would be wrong.
And “shockingly”, they were!

The morning clouds slowly dissipated and while some still lingered flying swiftly across the sun as the moon started throwing its shade, at precisely 1:38 on the afternoon of April 8, 2024, our new favorite town (not really), Waco, TX experienced FULL TOTALITY.

Our fellow RVer’s whooped and hollered (though not nearly as loud as we think they should have) and day promptly turned into night. Eclipse glasses off and after getting a couple of iPhone shots we were happy enough with, we just sat back in awe and tried to burn the sight into our memories, not our corneas.
To be lucky enough to see a total solar eclipse once in a lifetime is incredible, but actually getting to see TWO is unbelievable. Add an annular eclipse last October (aka the Ring of Fire Eclipse) to the mix and well, it’s a Trifecta of Intergalactic Awesomeness™.

- August 21, 2017, Total Solar Eclipse, Cheyenne, Wyoming
- October 14, 2023, Annular Eclipse, Canyonlands, UT
- April 8, 2024, Total Solar Eclipse, Waco, TX
- August 22, 2044? Canada? Fingers crossed.
There’s nothing left to say. It was a total eclipse of our hearts.
